Chapter 11

Synopsis

This Chapter is called “Sight of Universal Form of God”.

After knowing the expanse of the God in chapter 10, Arjun requests the Lord to show him his magnificent Divine form.

To fulfill Arjun’s wish the God bestows Arjun with divine sight to view the humongous form of the Lord. The divine sight given to Sanjay by the Sage Vyas also allows Sanjay to see the miracle.

The God then reveals the unimaginable, huge and terrible form to Arjun. Sanjay describes to Dhrutrashtr what all he saw in that fearsome humongous form spread everywhere. Arjun too tells to Krishn what Pleasant, Fearsome and Terrible things he sees and expresses his fear.

Arjun terrified at the sight, then requests the God to come back to his original pleasant form with four arms (Lord Shreekrishn had four arms in his normal day to day appearance).

The Lord then returns to his original form to comfort Arjun.

ARJUN SPOKE
O’ Hrisheekesh it is natural only,

And the sages are bowing to you as ever.

Chapter 11.37

I therefore prostate at your feet, my body,
Get pleased O’ praiseworthy.
Forgive me as father to child, as friend to friend,
And as to wife the beloved husband.

Chapter 11.45

THE LORD SAID
Pleased with you
I have shown you this form Superior,
With my immense Yogic power.
So radiant cosmic and divine,
Except for you, not seen before, by any one.

Chapter 11.48

Except for you by anyone.
With study of Vedas or rituals many,
This form of mine cannot be seen,
Even by penance or by charity.

My composure and,
Now happy I am.

GOD SAID
O’ Arjun, what you have seen is very difficult to see,
Even Gods are constantly waiting for such an opportunity.

Chapter 11.53

Neither by penance, nor by Ved study,
No one can see me thus,
Even with rituals or charity.

Chapter 11.54

However, with single minded devotion,
One can see me, know me or even,
Reach my mysterious destination.

Chapter 11.55

Arjun the one, with devotion, depending on me,
With no malice in mind for anyone,
He who performs duties for me,
Such one also reaches me.
